The Art of Flying Solo

Working full time, when I do get time off, I'm looking for a way to completely recharge my batteries - and solo trips, I've discovered, are just the thing to refill my cup.

When I first told people I was going away alone, I got a lot of concerned and confused responses.

'Do you want me to go with you?' 'Won't you get bored?' 'Is this some early mid life crisis eat-pray-love type BS?'

The concept of solo travel, to my well intended but very British family and friends, was still, even in this day and age, somewhat alien.

It turns out, after first taking the plunge in 2023, solo travel is my ultimate 'self care'. I like to take trips at my own pace, enjoy the perk of taking as many pictures as I want without being obnoxious to a travel companion, and going back to my blissfully air-conditioned hotel room to edit said pics whilst enjoying a Fanta lemon, some crisps and a locally sourced bar of chocolate. Though the goal is to be well travelled, I am, after all, a girl of simple tastes.

If you too are itching to try a solo trip and don't know where to start, The Solo Dispatches are your one stop shop for honest, down to earth tips, tricks and go-to guides. I hope you enjoy!

Happy Travels,
